ABOUT US

As animal lovers, we fully understand that our dogs are so much more than simply “pets”. They are our best friends, our companions and confidants, and they are members of the family. We also understand their need for attention, training, exercise and mental stimulation each and every day. These are all very necessary in order to have a well balanced and happy pup.

For dedicated dog owners, leaving your furry family member in the care of others is never a decision to be made lightly. Our dogs fall into a routine just as we humans do. When that routine changes, they are confused. The stress of our daily lives also greatly affects our dogs. At Playful Pups Retreat we work hard to provide a stable environment for your beloved dog.  If you are packing for a vacation or business trip, or someone in the home is ill, your dog will sense your emotions and stress. If a pet's exercise routine changes for these reasons, even inclement weather, you may notice behavior changes in your dog.

Dogs who are crated for hours each day, or are constantly alone and lacking in socialization, can display behavioral problems, become destructive and can even show signs of depression. We strive to provide a fun and safe alternative to excessive crating, kenneling or spending the day at home alone. When you establish a new daycare routine for your dog, he will be forever grateful. It is our goal to provide excellent care for your four-legged family members, which will help them to become better behaved, will improve their quality of life, and enhance the bonds that you share with them.

We are committed to providing a clean, healthy, fun and nurturing environment for your dog while you are away, whether you are at work for the day or on a long vacation. Our focus is on exercise, socialization and continued training, so you will be certain to find your pup is much happier, more relaxed and definitely more tired when you pick him up at the end of the day.

OUR STAFF

Playful Pups Retreat is owned and operated by Laurie Yost. Our employees are Certified Pet Care Technicians, and all of our staff members are thoroughly trained in canine first aid and CPR.

All of the staff at Playful Pups Retreat are dog lovers and owners themselves. Our Pack Leaders are chosen for their knowledge of dog behavior, dependability, and their passion for dogs. Each employee receives in-depth training in all areas of dog behavior and dog handling and care. We are all dedicated to the health and well-being of your pet at all times during their stay with us.

Our staff is trained to recognize that each dog is an individual with very different personalities. We get to know each and every dog and will provide individual attention and training if needed. This, in conjunction with a lot of exercise and pack socialization, will all contribute to a fun and stress free stay at Playful Pups Retreat.
