working at Playful Pups Retreat. However, we have found in the past that many
people do not have a very realistic view of what working in a facility like
ours involves. Please read the
below information prior to completing your application. First, we want you to understand our primary purpose
is to take care of other people’s pets. This is not a responsibility to be
taken lightly. This position
requires a genuine love of animals, and staff members who are mature enough to
understand and accept the responsibilities involved with their care. This job does not simply entail playing
with puppies all day; all staff are required to clean up any “accidents”, feed
the dogs in our care, administer medications and attend to each dogs comfort
and security at all times. This requires a great deal of hard work and
dedication. While working here you will be exposed to loud noises,
harsh chemicals, dog urine and feces, and possibly a variety of parasites and
zoonoses, (medical ailments that people can acquire from animals). There is always a risk of being bitten,
scratched or mauled. These are the potential hazards you face and accept when working
in the pet care industry. Each employee we have shares in all of the
responsibilities involved with the daily operations of our facility. While we
certainly attempt to make the best use of each staff member’s skills and
experience, please realize that no one is exempt from any aspect of our daily
routine, including the more mundane and unpleasant chores that need to be
performed. You will be expected to
mop floors, clean guest rooms, empty trash cans, etc. On most days you will be required to clean urine, feces or
vomit. If you have any allergies
to pet hair or are unable to lift 50 pounds this may not be the job you are
looking for. We are looking
for mature, responsible and dependable employees. You must be patient, calm, intelligent and self-motivated at
all times. We take our profession
