Agility for FUN!

Trainer: Cheryl Daily

Our Agility for FUN class introduces you and your dog to the sport of agility in a relaxed, positive, non-competitive atmosphere. You will learn work as a team with your dog. As your dog learns to negotiate jumps, weave poles, tunnels, the dog walk and other obstacles, he will also learn how to listen, focus on your lead, and gain confidence. Your dog will become more alert to your cues both in and out of class, and you will get a fun workout too!

Our Agility for FUN class is a great way to bond with your dog, as well as to help boost his confidence and social skills.

Agility sessions are 6 weeks long and cost $125.00. Space is limited to 6 students per session.

C.L.A.S.S. Program

C.L.A.S.S., or Canine Life and Social Skills, is a one-of-a-kind program that promotes training focused on the use of positive reinforcement and strengthens relationships between humans and their canine companions. C.L.A.S.S. is a three-level evaluation for dog owners to demonstrate the real-life skills of their dogs, as well as a knowledge assessment of the owners’ understanding of basic dog handling and care.

Developed by the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) based on input from both dog owners and non-dog owners, shelter workers, and professional dog trainers, C.L.A.S.S. benefits pet owners, dogs, and everyone in the community!

The three levels of the program are named after human university degree programs: the B.A. for Dogs™ (Bachelor’s level), the M.A. for Dogs™ (Master’s level), and the Ph.D. for Dogs™ (Doctorate level). The skills in each level vary in the level of difficulty and distractions.

Each level also allows for two “bonus rounds” that students may elect to try or not with their dog.

Bachelor's (B.A.) Level 1

Includes “real life” skills such as wait at the door, come and leashing up manners, loose leash walking, meet and greet, leave it, wait for the food bowl, stay, and settle, etc.

Completion of a basic obedience class is a prerequisite for B.A. Level 1. All C.L.A.S.S sessions are 6 weeks and cost $125.00 each. Space is limited to 8 students per session.

Completion of C.L.A.S.S – Bachelors Level is a prerequisite for M.A. Level 2. All C.L.A.S.S sessions are 6 weeks and cost $125.00 each. Space is limited to 8 students per session.

Nose Work Class Level 1

Trainer: Cheryl Daily

Nose Work, a sport that was inspired by the model of working detection dogs, provides companion and sport dogs a joyful outlet for their innate hunting and scenting abilities. Our goal is for you and your dog to have fun, as we work together to build your dog’s confidence, independence, and problem-solving skills. You will learn to observe, listen, and understand what your dog is communicating to you.

Take a step into their world, as you learn to view it from the perspective of your dog’s nose! By participating in Nose Work with your dog, you’re giving him the freedom to express and refine his natural talents, and he’s giving you a glimpse into how he “sees” the world.

Nose Work Level 1 sessions are 6 weeks and cost $125.00. Space is limited to 6 students per session.

Nose Work Class Level 2

Trainer: Cheryl Daily

This class advances the dog’s scent skills taught in the Nose Work Level 1 class and uses Birch scent, as well as increasing the difficulty of searches. Additionally, we introduce techniques and tactics for building a better dog & handler team. One focus of this class is adding birch scent to both container and interior searches.

Dogs and handlers will work on and off leash. Dogs will continue to build confidence and handlers will learn leash handling skills, when to support their dog and when to give space and will continue to learn to read their dogs. This class is for dogs that have completed the Nose Work Level 1 class.

Nose Work Level 2 sessions are 6 weeks and cost $125.00. Space is limited to 6 students per session.

Therapy Dog Training Class

Trainer: Cheryl Daily

This course will prepare you and your dog to work as a Therapy Dog team, often visiting the elderly, children, people who are ill or possibly those who have been affected by a natural disaster. Our trainer will help establish an enhanced level of skill to set you and your dog up to be successful in many different environments and situations, and to provide comfort, joy, and the unconditional love that only a dog can.

Many people feel a connection with dogs and the love that they provide, and this has a therapeutic effect on them. Therapy dogs should be calm and well-behaved, so that they do not upset or make anyone uncomfortable. The dog is only half of the equation, a responsible, caring handler is a crucial member of the therapy animal team.

Dogs must be at least 1 year of age and have a solid foundation of obedience skills to qualify for this certification. A suggested prerequisite for this Therapy Dog Class is our 3-level C.L.A.S.S Program (Canine Life and Social Skills).

All Therapy Dog Training sessions are 4 weeks with one on site session and 3 additional offsite observations. This course is $125.00. Space is limited to 10 students per session.

Manners 1 & 2 Classes

Manners 1

Lead Trainer: Deb Haldeman
Assistant Trainers: Holly Brosey & Sharon Baublitz

This class is designed as a beginner class for any age dog but is best for dogs over about 5 months of age. We suggest our Puppy Manners class for under 5 months. (include link) Using positive reinforcement with praise and rewards, we teach verbal commands and hand signals for most exercises. We start with the basics; sit, down, watch me, hold for greetings, stay, come when called, walking on a leash, leave it, as well as some face and body handling exercises.

We discuss training tools available for the handler and dog. We will also discuss the most common concerns dog owners express, such as jumping, play biting, crate training, etc. and how to redirect your dog to a more appropriate behavior. Each class ends with a new trick.

The Manners 1 & 2 classes have two trainers in each class. We recognize training is not one size fits all and we offer different approaches if your dog isn’t responding. We believe in positive reinforcement with verbal praise and rewards (food in class setting). If you have questions regarding the classes, please call us and we would be happy to discuss which class is best for you and your dog.

Manners 1 Class is 6 weeks and costs $125.00. Space is limited to 12 students per session.

Manners 2

Lead Trainer: Deb Haldeman
Assistant Trainers: Holly Brosey & Sharon Baublitz

The Manners 2 class is an extension of the Manners 1 class, working on enhancing the basic exercises learned and adding more distractions. Each class is segmented into three parts; Rally for fun, Tricks/Games and Canine Good Citizen. All parts of this class work on establishing a stronger bond, team building, and growing confidence between the handler and dog. The Rally course includes walking a course and performing the exercise written on a sign, i.e. Sit/Down, Stay, Left Turn, etc. This is not a competition class, but rather for having fun with your dog.

Tricks and games are different activities to build the dog’s confidence and have different experiences in a controlled environment. Canine Good Citizen is training towards the American Kennel Club’s CGC certification. There are 10 tests that a dog must pass to receive the CGC certification. We can do the CGC test separate from the class when a handler and dog are ready for testing.

Manners 2 Class is 6 weeks and costs $125.00. Space is limited to 12 students per session.
