Reflecting on Fifteen Wonderful Years at Playful Pups Retreat
As another year comes to a close, I find myself feeling both humbled and grateful. This year marks the end of our 15th year in business at Playful Pups Retreat — a milestone that feels both surreal and deeply meaningful. It’s November as I sit to write this, a beautiful fall season here in Central Pennsylvania. The leaves are changing, the air feels crisp, and nature once again reminds us that every ending is simply the beginning of something new.
Just as the trees shed their leaves to make room for renewal, I’ve found myself reflecting on my own evolution — both personally and professionally. Time has moved quickly, yet each season of life has offered lessons, growth, and transformation. Over these 15 years, I’ve experienced moments of incredible joy, deep love, and meaningful success, but also times of struggle, grief, and loss. Through it all, I’ve come to realize that both sides of that story are necessary. Together they shape who we are, allowing us to grow, to live fully in the present, and to appreciate the beauty of this journey.
When I look back, I can clearly see how natural it was that Playful Pups Retreat came to be. Dogs have always been such an enormous part of my life. They’ve offered me comfort in difficult moments, endless laughter on even the hardest days, and companionship that words can hardly describe. Creating a place where dogs could feel safe, loved, and happy — and where pet parents could have peace of mind — simply made sense. In many ways, I believe this business was a manifestation long before I ever knew it.
Owning and growing Playful Pups Retreat has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Yes, there have been challenges — moments that tested my patience, courage, and perseverance — but there has always been so much more love, laughter, and purpose than anything else. Every day, our team has the privilege of spending time with dogs, the purest of souls who give with their whole hearts and ask for so little in return. They remind us to live in the moment, to love without hesitation, and to find joy in the simplest things.
In a world that can often feel divided and uncertain, the ability to spend our days surrounded by such genuine spirits is a blessing. These dogs allow us to be our true selves — something that can be hard to find elsewhere. Their energy, affection, and unconditional love bring warmth and meaning to every day. Watching them grow in confidence, make new friends, or simply wag their tails in delight is a daily reminder of why this work matters so much.
To our amazing pet parents, thank you. Thank you for trusting us with your furry family members, for being part of this journey, and for supporting our mission of providing the very best care possible. We never take lightly the privilege of caring for your dogs — it’s an honor we cherish deeply. Every dog that walks through our doors leaves an imprint on our hearts.
As we wrap up this special anniversary year and look toward the future, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Fifteen years of Playful Pups Retreat has meant fifteen years of connection, learning, and love — and I’m so excited for what’s still to come.
If you’re looking for a home away from home for your dog — whether through overnight lodging, daycare, or training programs — we would love to welcome you into our Playful Pups family.
